Sirona have changed the criteria for an autism assessment again!

A group set up to contest the recent changes made to the autism assessment criteria in Bristol and surrounding areas has been successful in its campaign to ensure that all children with suspected autism are eligible for a diagnosis assessment.
Sirona in Bristol announced the unwelcome changes on the 1st of March 2023, meaning that thousands of children were no longer included on the waiting list for a diagnostic assessment. Only children in crisis met the new criteria, meaning that those who didn’t would have to rely on educational providers accepting their potential autism and meeting their needs appropriately.
Assess for Autism crowdfunded to make a legal appeal against these changes and on the 28th of April 2023 were able to announce their success.
